Ruth and our four kids, Elissa, Peter, Mark and Neal, who are twins, have been the foundation of my life and my success. This morning, as I walked out of the door, disheveled, struggling to get out on time, I heard a voice from the top of the stairs. It was Ruth who said, 'Be sure to eat eggs for breakfast, it will improve your voice'. I said, 'Oh my God, she's unrelenting.' But she's always right and she's always thoughtful. And without Ruth I would not be here today I think, in many ways, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

We've written two papers together; one is on stem cells. It was rare, but wonderful. That doesn't say how much she has contributed to my thinking, my emotional stability, and my judgement, so I want to be sure that she hears all that. I don't say it enough to her, but it's the fact and I'm grateful. We've been married for 60 years, that's a long time. I don't know many people that've been married for 60 years. And we hope we have another 20 together, but we'll see. The kids have been wonderful, also.
