My principal dream was to get into the School of Fine Arts. My father used to draw a little; he left a few drawings which unfortuantely didn't survive the war. Yes, this was the impression I had that he would have enjoyed drawing if he had had the time, but he used to leave the house at 6:00 am and come back late at night because of the demands of his military duties. He therefore had little time to spend with us and we rarely saw him. I only recall a few incidents. My father was terribly punctual, terribly precise and terribly organised, if I may say so.

Moim pierwszym takim marzeniem było, żeby dostać się do Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Ojciec mój trochę rysował, zostawił jakieś rysunki, które niestety nie zachowały się. Takie miałem wrażenie, że to by było jego upodobanie, gdyby miał czas, ale ojciec wychodził rano o szóstej i wracał po nocy, bo tak wygladała służba oficera służby liniowej, tak że mało się nam udzielał i rzadko kiedy byliśmy z ojcem, pamiętam właściwie tylko kilka scen. Ojciec był szalenie punktualny, szalenie dokładny, szalenie zorganizowany, jeżeli bym tak mógł powiedzieć.
