Television wasn't at all what it is today, there wasn't any... we didn't travel because it was still the end of the war, that transports were quite complicated, because it could only be done by plane, and flying was quite expensive, it was... It was a certain class of people that took the plane, that's why at the time there were beautiful stewardesses, that there was a law that as soon as they got married they had to leave, meaning that they were always young, as opposed to the ones we have nowadays. [Q] We were talking about planes?
Yes. So people didn't travel, but at the same time they were very curious. So there were a certain number of associations such as Connaissance du Monde where there were individuals who went around with their 8-mm, 16-mm cameras, in different parts of the world and gave conferences that lasted an hour, an hour and a half. And the Italians had understood very well that there was a niche market they could enter, and had made a film which I think was called The Lost World, which was actually mostly on Bali, the celebrations in Bali, etc., and some of it took place in Hong Kong.
[Q] That film was a big hit.
I remember the posters from when I was a kid. The Lost World. Yes, that film was a huge hit, because first of all it was in colour, it was fantastic, it was shown on a big screen instead of being on a much smaller one like when we went to the Salle Pleyel.

La télévision était pas du tout ce qu'elle est maintenant, il n'y avait pas de... on ne voyageait pas beaucoup parce que c'était quand même la fin de la guerre, que les moyens de transport étaient assez compliqués, parce que ça ne pouvait être que par avion, et que les avions étaient assez chers, c'était quand même... C'était une certaine classe qui prenait les avions, c'est pour ça qu'à cette époque-là qu'il y avait des très belles hôtesses, qu'il y avait une loi qui faisait que dès qu'elles se mariaient elles étaient obligées de quitter leur truc, c'est-à-dire qu' il y avait toujours des jeunes qui étaient là, au lieu d'avoir des vieilles radasses comme on a maintenant. Bon c'était le bon temps. Alors donc... merde, je me rappelle plus...

Oui, alors les gens ne voyageaient pas, mais ils étaient en même temps très curieux. Et les Italiens avaient très bien compris qu'il y avait un créneau sur lequel on pouvait s'engouffrer, et ils avaient fait un film qui je crois s'appelait Le Monde Perdu, qui était en fait un document qui était pratiquement sur Bali, les fêtes à Bali, etc., et puis une partie qui se passait à Hong Kong.

Je me souviens des affiches quand j'étais gosse. Le Monde Perdu. Oui, ce film-là avait fait un tabac, parce qu'il était d'abord en couleur, c'était magnifique, c'était sur un grand écran au lieu d'être sur un écran plus petit comme quand on allait à la salle Pleyel.
