Conflict between cameraman and technical consultant

In that film there was also a technical consultant, with whom I had big problems because one day he came to see me saying, 'Listen, every time I say something, you never agree with me, you always agree with the director'. So I said, 'But listen, I only agree with the director for one simple reason, because I think it's better for him to do something stupid rather than to have it done by someone else'. I mean when you tell me: No, were not going to do a travelling there; he wants one, well, let him put his travelling, we'll see'. It may not be needed but this sort of clumsiness might add something to the film. As opposed to if we were to do it in a classical way. I mean, when you work for someone else, you can't do his job for him. Because there are things that we can't create. We can't create the emotion that needs to be conveyed in a film, that's the most complicated thing. So... well, he was certainly being honest, he had no intention of taking over the film, but he would have preferred it that, as I was an old-timer of a cameraman, that I be on his side. For an old-timer of a cameraman to be on his side, but that's not really my thing. I think that clumsiness is sometimes a generator of good things.
